MOVING TO THE PRAIRIE
As a child, I often sat in the branches of a magnolia tree in our front yard and would inspect the layers of its fuzzy buds and conical fruit. It saddens me to think that I have since neglected some of that curiosity and relationship with nature. A week ago, I moved from the city to the prairie, and I aim to spend much of my time here reconnecting with the earth throughout the seasons. I will stop to look and listen to my surroundings again, and remember what it’s like to lose myself in the leaves.
